II Kiev International tourism forum
“Ukrainian House” hosts a unique event- II Kiev International Tourism Forum. The grand opening of the Forum will be done by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul. The welcoming speeches will be made by Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Jan Tombinski, Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Dr. Christof Weil, Ambassador of Germany in Ukraine, Jorge Zukoski, President of American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine and Victor Tvircun, Ambassador, Secretary General of the Permanent International Secretariat of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
The tourism ministers of eleven countries - Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and Turkey will also participate in the Forum. The listed countries are members of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, in which Ukraine heads the group for tourism.
The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul also noted: “Ukraine is an amazing country with huge tourist potential. According to the statistics of UNWTO the sphere of tourism and resorts provides every 12th working place and amounts to 30% of the world service export with the contribution of 9% to the world GDP. Today tourism is one of the main growing spheres of Ukrainian economy. UNWTO estimates confirm to be very promising for the development of the industry.”
Many other events are also planned during II Kiev International Tourism Forum, such as sitting of the ministers of tourism of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, exposition of tourism and resort possibilities of Ukrainian regions (International Resort Exhibition “Ukraine - all year round”) as well as presentation of the project “Olympic Hope. Winter Olympic Games 2022 in the Carpathians” and “Eurobasketball 2015”.
The sitting of the Council of representatives of the tourism sphere and resorts and the Council of tourist cities of Ukraine will take place as part of the Forum and bring attention to the target program of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine that approved the Concept of Tourism and Resort development by 2022. The program involves works of leading domestic and world experts and it is important that the integration of Ukrainian tourism into the world market is supported by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Panel discussion with participation of Ministers in charge of tourism of the BSEC Member States will be also held during the Forum. The main speechmakers of the discussion “Destination Black Sea. Common Borders - Common Solutions” are the Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on issues of tourism and resorts Elena Shapovalova and the Minister of resorts and tourism of the Crimea Aleksandr Liyev.
